It isn’t an easy task to release a Pakistani film in India.

It took 40 long years to get entry into the Indian film market, says writer, producer and director Shoaib Mansoor.

Khuda Ke Liye has been praised by everyone. The film, was released with 150 prints. “More Lollywood films will make it to India, but it may take some time because not all our films can compete with the Indian ones,’’ says Shoaib.

The cast includes Shaan, Iman Ali and Austin Marie Sayre. Our very own Naseeruddin Shah plays the prominent role of a Muslim cleric named Maulana Wali in a special appearance. So impressed was he with his role that he did not charge any fee.

The movie won the Silver Pyramid Award at the 31st Cairo International Film Festival in 2007, Best Foreign Film Award at Muscat Film Festival and was honoured with the Roberto Rossellini Award in Italy.

The movie set post 26/7 is a story woven around educated and modern Muslims caught in a difficult situation because of their approach towards life. The western world sees them as potential suspects of terrorism because of their names and attire.
